Platt Park
The Platt Park flag draws on the neighborhood’s history, identity, and connection to movement and memory.
Red and blue form the foundation: red as a nod to Colorado’s dramatic sunsets and to nearby DU’s influence on the area, and blue for the South Platte River, whose presence shaped the growth of south Denver.
Running across the flag are subtle gray lines, representing the historic Denver streetcar network. These tracks were instrumental in the creation of Platt Park as a classic “streetcar suburb,” linking the neighborhood to downtown and fueling the rise of the community’s commercial heart—Old South Pearl Street.
At the center of the flag stands a historic street lamp, a symbol pulled directly from the streets of South Pearl. It honors the district’s iconic character, lighting the way for both past and present community life. It’s a reminder that while the neighborhood continues to grow and change, its charm and spirit remain rooted in its walkable, human-scale core.
Together, these elements reflect a neighborhood that’s deeply connected—to its past, to its neighbors, and to the broader fabric of Denver.
